Child Abuse Reporting Procedures
1. If the child is in immediate danger, 911 should be called. If a volunteer, clergy, or staff members has reasonable cause to believe that a child has been maltreated, the volunteer, clergy or staff member must immediately inform the Case Manager. In the absence of the Case Manager, the Executive Director should be called.
2. In addition, the volunteer, clergy, or staff member must immediately fill out the Child Abuse Report Form in as much detail as possible, provide an oral report to the Case Manager, and fax the written report to the Day Center at 770-393-3278, no later than two hours from the initial suspicion.
3. The Case Manager will make a report to the county where the child resides or the police department where the incident occurred, no later than 24 hours from the initial suspicion. In the absence of the Case Manager, the Executive Director will make the report.
4. The staff member calling to make the report should not exercise any control, restraint, modification, or change to the information provided on the Child Abuse Report Form.
5. The Executive Director should be notified on the same day that the report has been made.
6. The report will be filed in the Family Records to be retained for up to three years.
